Hello, book queens, kings and non-binary royalty!
Today I bring you a book tag.
The Pride Flag book tag was created by the amazing CommonSpence over at YouTube. I absolutely love all of Spencer's content and you should definitely check him out!
And without further ado, here are my answers.
RED (Life) - A book with a spirited protagonist totally proud of who they are. Someone who gives you LIFE!
I'm going to cheat on this one and choose the love interest of the protagonist. Mainly because every time I think of a queer character that's totally proud of who they are is Phoenix from If I Tell You by Alicia Tuckerman.
Phoenix is a lesbian Vietnamese girl and she is just the lesbian icon everyone needs in my opinion. If you haven't read this book, please go read it. But be ready to have your heart broken. This IS a sad book.
ORANGE (Healing) - A book that made you, as the reader, find a deeper meaning or catharsis in your own life.
I could say If I Tell You again but I promised myself I wouldn't use the same book twice so I had to come up with another book. And I chose Aristotle And Dante Discover The Secrets Of The Universe by Benjamin Alire Sáenz.
I connected with Ari so much. All the internalized homophobia he had, I grew up with that. And this was the first book I read with a queer protagonist, it will always have a special place in my heart.
YELLOW (Sunshine) - A book that fills you with so much joy it could brighten even your darkest day.
That's without a doubt Everything Leads To You by Nina LaCour.
I adored this book. I read it so fast. The whole book was just pure happiness. Emi and Ava have become my OTP and I'll fight anyone that attacks them.
GREEN (Nature) - A book that is set out of this world — a reality different to our own.
Every Heart A Doorway by Seanan McGuire was the first book that came to mind. And everyone needs this book. It's amazing.
I loved the mystery. I loved the characters. I loved the concept. I loved everything. I need to reread this as soon as possible.
BLUE (Peace) - A book where one of the characters finds peace with a difficult truth.
Ida by Alison Evans. I can't remember the details but I think this book is a good choice.
I remember loving this book so much. And Ida is an amazing protagonist. And the world is just amazing.
PURPLE (Spirit) - A book that deals with LGBT+ themes and religion.
I definitely have to choose Autoboyography by Christina Lauren.
I laughed, I cried. And I laughed and I cried some more. This book was amazing. And I highly recommend it.
This was supposed to be posted during Pride Month but my lazy ass didn't finish it in time. Still, I loved doing this tag and if you're reading this (and want to do it) consider yourself tagged!
